Neptune is deep blue. At the edge of the Solar System, it looks like an enormous tear. So far from everyone else, alone in the dark and cold, it must feel terribly sad and lonely.
Lately I've been thinking: if a planet is always left in a dark corner, forgotten, pushed around and shut out, it must collect so much hurt and anger inside. Maybe its terrible storms are a silent protest. Maybe it starts hating everything around it, writing hurtful things in its diary.
Seeing it covered in wounds makes me sad. Even if it becomes the most frightening, storm-ravaged planet in the Solar System, I hope the others can give it some warmth. Even a little light.
If I may, I want to use this essay to tell Neptune: I'm sorry.
Maybe the universe isn't always fair. Maybe you've suffered things you never should have. But please believe that whatever you become, there is still someone who doesn't hate you. I hope one day you'll come out of those deep blue storms. I hope we can all get along.
